President Obama Visits Intel Ocotillo

We had the honor of having President Obama visit our Intel Ocotillo site today. He even used the Ocotillo Materials Labs where I work for an interview. But we were nowhere near him as we were booted out of our labs hours before his arrival. It was pretty neat and crazy what everyone goes through to prepare for his arrival. What an experience.

Many of us got tickets to see him speak outside of the upcoming new Fab with the largest land crane in the world in front of us. Even though we had to wait for about 3 hours before he showed up, it was an awesome day!

Happy 12th Anniversary

Lee and I celebrated our 12th Anniversary 2 months later since we have not had a chance to go on our date night until this Friday. I had bought a Travelzoo deal last year for Geordie's Restaurant at the Wrigley Mansion and it was expiring soon, so we used this as our anniversary dinner. The 3-course meal was a little disappointing, but not terrible. The portions were huge, so by the time we got to the third course, we were already full. The service was so so considering this was a nice restaurant. But the mansion itself was quite beautiful with lots of history, so that made up for the meal and completed the evening. The highlight of the evening was seeing one of the only 2 working Steinway grand player piano (the other one is in the Smithsonian). Mr Wrigley had Steinway build it, and then commissioned George Gershwin to play his works for the player piano rollers. So as the roll is playing, you are listening to George Gershwin. Pretty neat.

My Baby Girl is Growing Up

Today is Hayley's first day at preschool. She is now attending Montessori Christian Academy with Ethan. She cried briefly during drop-off, but she did just fine except she had a little accident while playing outside. She ate all her lunch and napped. I was told that Ethan was a great helper to Hayley, so I'm very happy about that. Let's hope she will continue to have a good week!

I can't believe it is already 2012! Where did the time go? Well, the holiday season is behind us, vacation is over and it's back to the busy schedule of routines, school, work, kids activities, etc. Wishing everyone a healthy and successful 2012 and I look forward to more milestones from our friends and family, especially our kiddos.
