First Day of School - 2010

Summer is over and it is time to go back to school. Ethan is back at Montessori Christian Academy and is off to a good start. This year, there are 3 Ethans in the classroom, so Ethan has been going around saying, I'm Ethan Koh! We're all looking forward to the first school event - Ice Cream Social - yum!

End of Summer Fun...

Ethan has been at Kids Incorporated all summer. It was a little change from Montessori and he had fun meeting new friends and enjoying some water fun during water days. He learned the days of the month and months of the year as well as many sea animals.

He also got to get into the firetruck when the fire department visited the center. Other highlights were a visit from the Wildlife World Zoo where he got to see many animals up close and a fun Luau Party.

Real Food....

We have been letting Hayley eat more real food when we're eating out, i. e. she gets to eat what we eat :-). It gets messy, but we just do a whole face/mouth/hands wipe down when she is done. She also enjoys eating breakfast with Ethan in the morning. Now I just need to get her off the bottle for her milk....

Hayley is 15 Months Old!

Hayley turned 15 months old and came down with a fever right before her well-child appointment. Looks like she caught a viral bug from Ethan. So, she escaped her 15-month shots for now. She weighed in at 18lbs 14.5oz (3%) and measured 30 inches (25-50%). So far she can say "Ba Ba", "Ta Ta", "Mum Mum" when she wants to eat, "Ni Ni" when she wants milk, "Hmmm" when she eats and a few other words we don't understand. She is starting to get into everything and loves to play with Ethan. Ethan is slowly playing better with her. So, it is nice to sit back and watch when they are playing together. Let's see how the next few months will go.

Good Eating

This year I decided to stay in and make brunch for Father's Day. The menu consisted of Asparagus Tart, Mixed Green Salad with Crab Cake and Mango, Chicken and Apple Sausages and Eggs, Mixed Fruit and Mexican Chocolate Bread Pudding. Everything turned out delicious and enjoyed by all. I think I should do this more often.

It was also Lee's birthday this weekend and we celebrated with a simple dinner at home and a new dessert I found at Costco. They are 3 different flavored (orange-lemon delight, lemon-raspberry half and half, raspberry-mango parfait) mousses from Jessica Pastries. They are 35% cream pastries with jelly and fruit puree. They are very yummy and not too heavy and sweet.

We also went to Sunday Brunch at Il Terrazzo at the Phoenician. We had a great time and enjoyed every bite. We went with the 3-course menu as well as the breakfast buffet. Way too much food, but we took our time to enjoy it. I am proud to say that the kids behaved very well. Our friends were prepared and brought along a laptop to play movies after the kids were done eating. It worked great!

Breakfast Buddies

Now that Hayley is eating more and more solids - real food - she has been joining Ethan in the morning for some breakfast. Hayley is very good at sitting down and eating her breakfast, but Ethan is not so good. He has to be told many times to sit still and finish his breakfast! At least with Hayley next to him, it works like wonders as he loves to imitate her. So, I highly encourage breakfast time together.
